Orchids are fond of growing at extreme places all around the world. This is why they are one of the most resilient plants alive today. But we sometimes forget that these plants are mostly found in the tropics because they thrive in humid and warm places. One prominent example of this is the article I’ve recently read where the writer found an amazing 4,000 species of orchids in one place – Mindo Ecuador.
All over the world there are certain places where orchids love to thrive and flourish. Here are a few more countries where orchids successfully prosper, in no particular order:
• Thailand
• Brazil
•Hawaii
• India
• Mexico
• Japan
• Philippines
• Peru
• Malaysia
Now you may notice that these countries share similar characteristics with each other. Most of these countries have warm and humid climates. Lush and thick rainforests also are one of the common factors that most of these countries have.
On that note, if you want to grow orchids successfully one very smart thing to do is imitate the environmental conditions that these countries have.
This doesn’t mean though that orchids only grow in hot and humid places. It is a known fact that orchids have been cultivated on almost every place on the planet. The aforementioned countries are places where orchids grow naturally. Most of them can be found in these countries’ rainforests where they hang on and cling to branches of old trees.
Some of these countries showcase their various species of orchids through many of their wonderful botanical gardens. Some of the very famous gardens that you can visit and enjoy orchids are in Malaysia and Brazil. You can find the largest, the most expensive, and even the weirdest species of orchids in most of these gardens.
No matter where you are in the world you can grow orchids. These beautiful plants can be cultivated just as long as you know how to care for them properly. And with the different species available today, you can build your collection so you can have your own private tropical garden.
